In 1968 the Winkies once again returned to a private residence for the convention. Edith and Warren Hollister hosted the event at their lovely home, with its sumptuous Oz room. The first Oz costume contest was held with magical denizens from all parts of the land of Oz parading around the swimming pool. Kevin Harris won as Ojo. Professor Warren Hollister presented an erudite account of the world of Oz depicted and developed by Ruth Plumly Thompson, and Ruth Berman, from Minneapolis, gave a talk on Ruth Plumly Thompson’s novella, The Curious Cruise of Captain Santa, which not only read like an Oz tale, but was illustrated throughout in two colors by John R. Neill.
