1980 Winkie Convention

For 1980, joint program chairs were Rebecca Cummings and Rob Roy MacVeigh. Rob was creating an animated film. He showed many illustrations (mostly water colors) he had created for a proposed full-length animated feature film of THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ in a style that was simultaneously his own and sympathetic to Denslow and Neill. Peter Hanff provided a retrospective look (via 35mm slides) at past Oz Club conventions, and Eric and Elizabeth Shanower won the costume contest for their hysterical two-person costume of Kabumpo of Oz. Warren Hollister presided over the Winkie Auction, and a new feature, an Oz Treasure Hunt (which became a perennial favorite) was introduced.
